Its so great to know there are so many hero’s in our community like Roger and his wife (he’s going to not like me saying that) and others like the hundreds who turned out to help. Job well done! I applaud you.

After we finished shooting we all headed to the quaint downtown area where my awesome client treated us all to dinner. We then hit a little coffee pub for some after dinner java and dessert.

Your wedding music will help to create a magical tone for your ceremony and reception celebration. No matter which type of wedding you plan, whether it is formal, at the beach, or in your backyard, the music you select will be the reflection of your lives together. Choosing music often involves two phases, one for the ceremony and one for the celebration that follows. Victor Hugo once wrote that, “Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.”

Choosing Wedding Ceremony Music
As you walk down the aisle and look to your partner waiting for you, the music that plays will be the beautiful introduction to the rest of your shared lives. The type of music you select for your ceremony will be largely influenced by the location of the ceremony. Many churches have guidelines which they give couples and ask that they follow for music played within the church as part of the ceremony. If you are able and want to personalize your ceremony music you can choose something unique that represents your journey up until this point, or the hopes that you have for the future. Some brides choose a favorite song that is meaningful from childhood, while other couples might select a piece that reflects their heritage.

There will often be other selections to make for during the ceremony, and again you need to consider the guidelines of the church. If you are able, meet with the musicians before the ceremony to hear the songs and make sure that the selection is just what you envisioned it to be.

Some classic pieces from which to choose for your ceremony include:

• Canon on D Major – Pachelbel
• Trumpet Voluntary – Clarke
• Bridal Chorus (Here Comes the Bride) – Wagner

Choosing Wedding Reception Music
You have taken your vows and pledged your commitment to each other, and now it is time to celebrate with your family and friends. The music you select for your wedding reception will help set the tone for the rest of the day. Your reception location will again influence your music selections, but it is also a time where your personal tastes and preferences can shine. Consider having soft music playing as your guests arrive for the reception, either prerecorded or played by one or two musicians. Having light background music during the receiving line and meal helps lighten the mood and can make guests more at ease.

If you are planning to dance the night away at your reception, there are many options for music. Some couples prefer live music, but just be sure that the musicians are familiar with the type of music you want played at your dance. You can even do a little spy mission and watch them play elsewhere to make sure it is what you want. Also take into account set-up times, break times, and total duration of music actually played when choosing musicians.

The use of a DJ can be less expensive, and the variety might be more suitable to your personal tastes. Request to see the playlist before signing a contract, and make sure you provide a list of “must play” songs that you want to have at the dance.

Whether you choose a live band or find a local DJ, plan ahead for those special moments. Put your own personal stamp on your “first dance” – you can have a traditional slow dance to your song, or go with a tango you learned together. Add in some traditional wedding dance songs that will get your guests onto the dance floor, and be ready to celebrate all night long. Wedding Favors for Out of Town Guests

One way to start your wedding celebration off right for guests who are traveling is to incorporate welcome bags or baskets that they receive at the hotel when they arrive for the big day. Plan ahead by listing specific hotels for guests’ accommodations on the invitation and having guests inform the hotel that they are reserving a room for your wedding. Then keep in contact with the hotel and prepare that number of gift bags. If you know exactly who is coming from out of town you can even label each favor bag with their name. Just be sure to supply a few extra bags or baskets to the hotel for back-up. Inside the bag or basket you can include some of the following:

A map of the local area, highlighting the hotel and locations of the ceremony and reception
Brochures from local businesses and tourist attractions
A schedule of events – perhaps the guys are meeting for an early round of golf, so include pertinent information for those types of activities
Mini bottles of wine or bottled water
Small packages of things like mints or tissues they might want to bring to the ceremony but forgot to pack
Snacks, especially any that are locally packaged or created, but chocolate, nuts, and other candies work well, too
A picture frame with a photo of your engagement picture inside
A personal note from you and your partner thanking your guests for taking the time out of their busy lives to celebrate the occasion

Wedding Favors for Guests

Once the wedding ceremony is complete and your guests move on to the reception, have a few small tokens waiting for them at the next location. Chocolates and candies are great to have waiting at each table for the guests. You can simply place several in miniature gift bags or boxes and tie with a ribbon, or order some personalized candy tins or jars for each guest. Personalizing wedding favors is a unique way to send each guest home with a special memory, and many of the following favors can be ordered online for less than $2.00 each!

Lip balm
Candles and candle holders
Fortune cookies
Bookmarks
Wine glasses
Golf balls
Bottle openers
Soaps

You can also leave special items for each guest at their place settings, such as picture frames holding their place cards or bouquets of themed lollipops or decorated cookies. If you have a Vegas wedding go ahead and use poker chips and playing cards as centerpieces and guests can take a little luck home with them.
